Sic Bo
An ancient Chinese game of chance, Sic Bo, sometimes referred to as ‘Big & Small' is a game of chance played with three dice.
New to the floor at SKYCITY Darwin, the object of the game is to predict the combination on the three dice once they've been tumbled.
Types of Bets
There are seven different types of betting with Sic Bo, each with their varying odds.
The first and most basic type of betting is ‘Single Bets'. Lined up at the bottom of the table are the numbers 1 to 6. With single bets you're betting one of the three dice will land on you chosen number. The odds are 1 to 1, however if two dice land on your number you'll receive 2 to 1, and all three dice landing on your number pays 12 to 1.
You can also bet on the total of the dice. Here, you're betting on what the total sum of all three dice will be.
A type of betting with larger odds is double and triple betting. This means you're wagering there will be a double or triple combination of any number when the dice are tumbled. You can also specify the particular number which will be the double or triple combination, e.g. 6,6 or 8,8,8.
Finally, you can bet either ‘Big' or ‘Small'. With this type of bet, you're wagering the total sum of the three dice will either equal between 4 and 10 (Small) or 11 and 17 (Big). Both of these bets lose if a triple combination appears.
The Mechanics
Players make their bets by placing chips on the relevant section of the table. Players may wager on as many combinations as desired. Once all bets have been placed, the dealer will make a call for ‘no more bets.' The dice dome cover is then lifted and the outcome of the three dice is revealed. The dealer will then remove all losing bets from the table and payout the winners - similar to roulette.
The most recent combinations are tracked on a board next to the table so players are able to see which numbers have been displayed on previous tumbles.
