Research suggests that there isn't a 'clear type' for those who develop gambling problems.

Signs of a gambling problem can include:

• Spending too much time thinking about or engaged in gambling, neglecting other important obligations
• Gambling to try to escape worries, low mood and problems
• Finding it difficult not to gamble at every opportunity or finding it difficult to stop once started
• Spending too much money on gambling instead of necessities (i.e. mortgage/rent, food and clothing, bills, health care, education, transport)
• Getting into debt because of gambling
• Trying to win back losses.
