Baccarat
Baccarat is a world renowned casino game, derived from European games of 'Chemin de Fer' and 'Punto Banco'.
There are two types of Baccarat available at SKYCITY Darwin:
- Mini Baccarat seats seven players and the dealer flips the cards, and;
- Midi Baccarat seats nine players and the players flip the cards to decide the outcome. Standing players are welcome at both games.
Getting started
To join in the action, simply place your cash on the table and the dealer will exchange it for gaming chips – then you're ready to go!
After playing, go to the cashier to change any chips back to cash or take them to another table to continue the fun.
How to Play
The rules of Baccarat are complicated and may be hard to understand. This guide is only a brief summary of the set table of play and main elements of the game. For a fuller explanation of the rules and how to play, just ask any of our friendly Table Games staff.
What is the aim of the game?
The aim of the game is to bet on which side gets closest to 9. Betting options are 'Player', 'Banker' or 'Tie'. Tens and picture cards (Jacks, Queens and Kings) count as zero, and all other cards count as their face value. For any total over 10, only count the last digit.
For example:
7 + 3 = 0
10 + 4 = 4
10 + K = 0
8 + A = 9
The hand closest to 9 wins.
How it works
'Player', 'Banker', 'Tie', 'Pair Bank' and 'Pair Player' bets are the five possible bets to wager. Just place your chips in the corresponding marked area and enjoy the excitement as the dealer draws the cards according to a set table of play (the Tableau) to determine a winner.
When the dealer has paid the winning bets you may place a new bet for the next hand.
The Tableau
The Table shown below applies after the first four cards (two to the Player, two to the Banker) have been dealt.
