OverviewSKYCITY Auckland offers two variations of poker; Texas Holdem and Omaha. Regardless of which variation you play the object of Poker is to win the money in the pot by forming the best five-card Poker hand or have all the other players fold to your bet. Poker Code of ConductSKYCITY has established a Code of Conduct to facilitate a pleasant gaming atmosphere for all Poker players. Management reserve the right to refuse any person from playing and may ask players to leave if their conduct is deemed unacceptable. Please note the following points from the Code of Conduct Guidelines: - Play at a reasonable speed, don't cause unreasonable delays and follow the game
- Protect your hand
- Don't comment on other players' tactics
- If a player notices an error they must point it out
- Colluding/cheating is not tolerated
- Only English may be spoken at the table with appropriate vocab/tone
- Clearly announce your intentions, bet in one hand motion
- Swearing and/or inappropriate language/comments will not be tolerated
- Disruptive and/or abusive behaviour towards another player or employee is unacceptable.
To keep the games running smoothly, please make your buy-ins at the Poker booth prior to sitting at the table. Missed Blind Penalty - If a player misses any blind they will be penalised with both blinds. The small blind will go into the pot and the big blind will act as a call bet.
CommissionUnlike other casino games, players of Poker play against each other - SKYCITY Auckland provides the dealers and equipment to conduct the games for a small fee, usually in the form of commission taken from the pot. Various commissions apply depending on the structure and table buy in minimum. The type and amount of commission is displayed on the Table Limit signs at each table. Ranking of Hands

Choosing Your TableWe currently have six poker tables in the Poker Zone and offer Structured, No Limit and Pot Limit games. Table signs showing the types of poker games - the betting limits, buy-ins and commission - are displayed at the Poker booth. Place your name on the list of your choice and the Poker Zone staff will call you when your seat is ready. Table LimitsStructured Limit GamesOn our Structured Limit games, there is a maximum of three 'Raises' per round of betting with a set amount that can be wagered for the first two rounds of betting with a set amount that can be wagered for the first two rounds of betting, and then a higher amount that can be wagered for last two rounds. These two amounts are known as the 'Table Limits' and are displayed on the Table Limit sign e.g. '$5/$10 Poker'.
No Limits GamesOur No Limits games have no limit on the number of raises permitted in a round and no limit on the amount a player can wager. A player can wager all the chips they have in front of them, commonly known as going ‘All In’. We offer No Limit games with varying ‘Minimum and Maximum Buy-In’ amounts. These two buy-in amounts are known as the ‘‘Table Limits" and are displayed on the Table Limit sign e.g. ‘$60 minimum-$100 maximum buy-in’.
Pot Limits GamesOur Omaha games usually have a ‘Pot Limit’, with no limit on the number of raises and a maximum amount that can wagered, limited to no more than the pot. We offer Pot Limit games with varying 'Minimum and Maximum Buy-In', amounts. These two buy-in amounts are known as the 'Table Limits' and are displayed on the Table Limit sign e.g. ‘$300 minimum-$500 maximum buy-in’.
