Global Illumination Campaign
Since 2000, SKYCITY has supported International Breast Cancer Awareness Month by lighting Sky Tower pink each October.
The pink Tower is part of the Global Illumination Campaign, which sees monuments in over 120 countries illuminated in pink light, to create awareness that "early detection is the best protection against breast cancer."
Other famous icons lit pink include the Empire State Building, Big Ben and the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
"We're proud to play a part in raising awareness amongst New Zealanders of the importance of regular breast examinations," says Megan McSweeney, General Manager Communications SKYCITY.
Pink ribbons can be purchased from all SKYCITY outlets in October for a $4 donation.
'In the Pink' Fashion Show
Annually SKYCITY, together with The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation, presents the 'In The Pink' fashion show.
'In The Pink' 2006 was voted the most successful ever by New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation Officials. The event raised over $77,000, which will support the Foundation's numerous education, awareness and research initiatives.
