SKYCITY Auckland

Kidz First Children's Hospital

SKYCITY Auckland's support for child health initiatives in the Auckland region includes our founding sponsorship in 2000 of the burns and plastics unit at Kidz First, South Auckland's children's hospital based at Middlemore Hospital.

The burns unit offers highly specialised burns and intensive care services to children from the greater Auckland region and in very severe cases, from wider New Zealand. Each year the burns unit treats around 250 children for burns and scalds.

SKYCITY - as the founding sponsor of Kidz First Burns and Plastics Unit - has donated more than $300,000 to the unit over our three-year sponsorship term.

In addition to making a financial contribution, SKYCITY has developed several advertising campaigns to educate parents and caregivers about burn prevention and treatment.

In Round 10 (2005) the SKYCITY Auckland Community Trust granted $150,000 to support Counties Manukau Health in their collaboration with Auckland Regional Dental Services to improve oral health services in South Auckland. A major component of which is the delivery of a Community Dental Clinic in Mangere.

This year in Round 11, the SKYCITY Auckland Community Trust granted a further $150,000 to the South Auckland Health Foundation to make this Clinic a reality. Once open the Clinic will increase the availability of free dental health care for children in the region.
