Gallagher Boathouse 8s
The 2005 Gallagher Boathouse 8s will see the Waikato University rowing team compete against Washington University in September. The SKYCITY Hamilton Community Trust has made a grant to assist in the delivery of the event. The event attracts 20,000 people and includes a community concert, entertainment and kids activities.
In the past the event has raised funds for SKYCITY's official charities, in 2003 Special Olympics New Zealand and in 2004, The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.
Entertainment and the Arts
As a leading entertainment provider SKYCITY aims to bring varied forms of fun and entertainment to the Hamilton community.
SKYCITY Hamilton has supported a range of local musicians and entertainers from opera singer Shaun Dixon, to local performers 'Heart and Soul' and NZ Idol finalist Camillia Temple.
The NZ Breast Cancer Foundation
SKYCITY Hamilton joins other SKYCITY Entertainment Group properties to support the global awareness campaign for International Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October by lighting the Riverside Entertainment Centre pink, selling official pink fundraising ribbons and promoting the importance of early detection of breast cancer.
SKYCITY Entertainment Group has sponsored The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation since 2000.

SKYCITY Hamilton makes an active contribution to the local community through a range of local initiatives.
Each year local and regional community groups and schools benefit from the donation of SKYCITY Hamilton food and beverage vouchers for The Post Restaurant to support their fundraising activities.
SKYCITY plays an active role in promoting Hamilton tourism. SKYCITY has a leadership role in tourism industry groups in New Zealand and a sales force actively involved in 'destination' marketing.

As part of the 2003 Gallagher Boathouse 8s, SKYCITY held the 'Quack 'n' Paddle Duck Race' as a fundraiser for Special Olympics New Zealand.
The event featured a race of rubber ducks down the Waikato River with the 'owner' of the winning duck winning $10,000!
