Code of Business Practice

The Code of Business Practice reinforces the company's existing commitment to the SKYCITY community, which includes our employees and shareholders, and sets out the standards of behaviour that the community can expect from SKYCITY. It is intended to guide directors, employees, contractors and representatives of SKYCITY so that their business conduct is consistent with SKYCITY's business standards. Among the policies included within the Code are:

Employment Policy

Staff are one of SKYCITY's most valued assets. The company demonstrates its commitment to fair and consistent employment relations through an employment policy that aims to:

Tourism Contribution

SKYCITY plays an active leadership role in promoting Auckland, Queenstown, and New Zealand as international visitor destinations. Our contribution to tourism promotion includes:

  • The involvement of senior executives in industry organisations
  • Co-operative marketing projects with other local tourism operators
  • One of the largest sales teams based in New Zealand focused on promoting Auckland, Queenstown and Adelaide to key domestic and international markets
  • The staging of high profile events such as the A J Hackett bungy jump and the Millennium fireworks display
  • Hosting key international events which showcase Auckland to the world, such as Rally New Zealand.

Each year international visitors to SKYCITY Auckland account for approximately 600,000 casino visits, 45,000 room nights at SKYCITY Hotel, and 200,000 visits to Sky Tower.

Environmental Policy

SKYCITY Entertainment Group Limited operates under an Environmental Policy which governs the company's approach to important environmental considerations. The company's main environmental issues relate to energy and water use, waste management, and the handling of raw materials. The policy document was approved by the company's board of directors on 17 February 2005.
