SKYCITY Adelaide Casino Customer Wins AFL Grand Final 'Dream Prize'
Highbury volunteer worker, Daryl Simons, is off to the AFL Grand Final thanks to a “dream prize” he won at SKYCITY Adelaide Casino recently, simply by having a couple of his favourite beers – Carlton Draught.
Recently retired, Daryl says he’s never won anything before and that he still can’t quite believe it since receiving the phone call from SKYCITY Adelaide Casino yesterday, informing him of the win.
“I go to the Casino often for a meal and a fun night out. The night I entered the draw, I was there for a friend’s 50th birthday and I had a Carlton Draught or two and entered the draw, never thinking I’d win.
“As soon as I got the phone call I called my wife who works at the Royal Adelaide Hospital - she loves footy too and ten minutes later, I’d booked the flights and accommodation. I still can’t believe it,” he says.
As a Richmond fan, growing up in Melbourne, Mr Simons says he’s been to many footy matches at the MCG but he’s never made it to a Grand Final.
“I moved to Adelaide over 11 years ago. This is such an amazing prize, not only do I get to see the Grand Final and be part of one of Australia’s largest sporting experiences, I also get to catch up with my family,” he says.
SKYCITY’s Carlton Draught promotion ran from Monday 18 August to 12 September 2008. Customers simply had to purchase a Carlton Draught beer from any bar at SKYCITY Adelaide Casino and fill in the entry form to be in to win.
The major prize which Daryl won, includes a trip for two to the 2008 AFL Grand Final including airfares, accommodation for two people, entry into the Fosters Group marquee in the exclusive September Club corporate hospitality enclosure, pre and post match hospitality featuring premium beverages, cocktail food and live entertainment together with premium reserve seating for the match.
Second place went to Mr Alvin Yapp of Adelaide city who won for himself a Dream Team signed and framed Guernsey. Third prize was a signed and framed Adelaide Crows Guernsey which was won by Robert Joyce from Salisbury East and fourth prize was won by B Gwyhne of Pasadena who wins a signed and framed Port Adelaide Guernsey.
