SKYCITY launches 'Aussie Millions' Satellite Series
Adelaide Poker buffs have the opportunity to win a seat at the Southern Hemisphere’s richest poker event, thanks to SKYCITY Adelaide.
From next Tuesday, August 8, SKYCITY Adelaide’s Poker Zone will provide the chance for players to win one of up to four* spots to the Aussie Millions Main Event in Melbourne on Sunday, January 14 through Satellite Tournaments for as little as $40.
The Satellites will be hosted at the Poker Zone on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 7pm, with buy-ins ranging from as low as $40 to $75 for No Limit Hold’em.
They will culminate in an exciting tournament final at SKYCITY on Sunday, November 12 at 11.30am.
99 players are expected to compete in the final, with up to four place getters winning entry to the Aussie Millions major poker event (valued at $10,500 each) plus cash prizes.
Taking place over six days, the Aussie Millions Main Event will be held at Melbourne’s Crown Casino and is expected to generate a prize pool in excess of $5 million.
General Manager - Marketing and External Relations, Tamsyn Alley, said the Satellite tournaments provided South Australian poker players with the opportunity to pit themselves against Australia’s best players, for a fraction of the price.
“Through our Satellite Tournaments up to four players could have the opportunity to win the $10,500 entry into the Aussie Millions Main Event - for as little as $40!” she said.
“Players can enter our Satellite tournaments as many times as they wish.
“For all those aspiring Joe Hachem’s out there - here’s your chance to share in a larger than $5 million prize pool!”
Ms Alley added that Satellite tournaments at SKYCITY had proven to be popular with the poker community, with Christies Beach chef Stewart Scott this week participating in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) championship in Las Vegas, after winning entry through a Satellite tournament final held at SKYCITY Adelaide in May.
