In September 2003 the New Zealand Government passed an Amendment to the 'Smoke-free Environments Act' and smokefree regulations, which requires all hospitality venues to be smokefree by December 10 2004.
Current Company Policy
This policy states that SKYCITY Auckland will:
Provide smokefree gaming areas, restaurants, bars, car park and all other other public facilities*
Provide outdoor smoking areas for customers and staff
Ensure signage is displayed to indicate that all internal areas* are smokefree and to direct customers to the nearest smoking areas
Require staff to enforce the smokefree legisation and, when applicable, warn patrons for breach of the legisation
Evict patrons from premises if they continue to breach the smokefree legisation after warnings.
*The SKYCITY Hotel provides smokefree rooms and smoking rooms.
