Host Responsibility

Staff Training

SKYCITY is committed to developing staff awareness of host responsibility especially with respect to problem gambling and excessive alcohol consumption.

This includes the provision of responsible gambling and responsible service of alcohol training programmes at three distinct levels.  The levels commence at induction when all new staff participate in introductory training which identifies problem gambling characteristics as well as reinforcing responsible service of alcohol, (Host Responsibility - Level One, two hours).

Increased levels of training are provided to staff employed in positions in Gaming, Food & Beverage, Security and Surveillance (Responsible Service of Alcohol, two hours).

Supervisors within the above departments partake in training identifying initial procedures for ‘first level’ identification of patrons requiring assistance and their action (Host Responsibility — Level Two, eight hours).

Advanced Training

This is provided for selected senior employees within the already mentioned departments on the:

  • Identification of, prevention of, and intervention techniques for problem gambling, including cultural consideration (Host Responsibility — Level Three, eight hours).

Security and Surveillance staff receive additional Host Responsibility training, particularly on the administration of the self-exclusion and exclusion process.
